Early nineteenth picture / mirror frame. Gesso,
gold leaf on oak.
The frame made of four quadrants had failed
where these were glued and pinned together with wooden dowels. Where
the frames were broken, and missing sections needed to be replaced.
The frames were made structurally sound, then a ground of gesso
and bolle before water gilding. New gilding required aging to match
worn patina on frame.
