Victorian bow fronted chest. Mahogany veneer,
pine and oak
The veneer on this piece was very thin. The
substrate (pine) had shrunk, delaminating the veneer. Where the
veneer was vulnerable. It had chipped away leaving area of loss.
The ground was made stable and surrounding veneer consolidated.
Matching veneer was sought, the area patched, then camouflaged by
colouring and polishing to blend with surrounding surfaces.
