Original Furniture from Sydney University’s Fisher Library, 1963.

The original furniture for Fisher Library was installed by the then Government Design Architect, Ken Woolley. In recent times the library has been undergoing refurbishment with a conservation approach to restore the building to its original décor, where possible.

These reading chairs, along with secretary chairs and low tables, were refurbished using as much of the original materials as possible. These items are in everyday use and thus must be able to withstand the traffic of a busy public building, and meet current safety regulations in fire retardant materials. Old materials that were not re-used were recycled where possible.
