Georgian Mahogany BureauGeorge III Mahogany Bureau, late 18th century. This lovely fall-front mahogany bureau, in original condition, has a typical configuration with pigeon holes and central door. It is possibly of Irish origin. Apart from some thin timbers comprising the pigeon holes being broken and the central door being detached, the bureau was structurally in good condition. The drawer liners required adjustment and some compensation for timber shrinkage. A large section of timber was missing from the top of the fall front, this was replaced with a sympathetic match. The original finish was preserved and re-saturated with a burnishing wax. |
