Burmese Lacquered Offering Bowl

Burmese Lacquered Offering Bowl, circa 1900.

This bowl was unfortunately damaged during transit and was broken in many sections. The lacquer finish on the offering bowl had worn away and the remaining lacquer was dull due to sun exposure and accumulation of dirt.

The bowl was pieced back together with animal glue. Broken spindles were repaired or re-created. Damage was touched up and new spindles coloured and lacquered. The exposed lacquer on the bowl was revived by carefully cleaning with aqueous solutions.
